A three day celebration of surf culture and all that is iconic about surfing

A natural surfing location, full of creative energy and drawing from the rich local and national surfing heritage, Byron Bay is an ideal venue to show case all that is unique and attractive about surfing.  The festival brings together people to celebrate surfing and associated arts, film, music, literature and design.  

With Bob McTavish kicking off the festival in 2011 and a full programme that had everything from Breath Control and Yoga workshops, creating you own wooden surfboard and art exhibitions this is a varied celebration of a culture that is an iconic symbol of Australian life. Staged in various locations and venues around the town the Surf Festival is an opportunity to explore Byron Bay and a major part of its history and culture.

Packed with events, workshops, markets and of course, surfing the festival is non competative and a great opportunity to celebrate this iconic sport and beautiful Byron Bay.
