This year's Byron Bay Writers' Festival is all about passion and the fabulous line up of wordsmiths will be sharing their passions with audiences throughout the weekend. Be inspired and amused by the range of Australian and International wordsmiths appearing including Louis De Bernieres, Paul Kelly, James Redfield and Kamahl performing poems of passion. Located at North Beach (formerly Byron Bay Beach Resort) and under the stewardship of festival director Candida Baker this year promises to be a delight!

 

Three days, 150 featured writers and thinkers, 160 volunteers to keep it all running smoothly and over 45,000 individual tickets sold. All the ingredients that make Byron Bay Writers Festival one of the hottest literary events in Australia. Tickets for the festival can also be purchased through their website. Live radio broadcasts, panel discussions, readings, book signings, conversations, theatre, literary luncheons, book launches and more are all included in this Festival with activities to suit all age groups. This years Writers Festival will take place on the August 5-7. The Festival had humble beginnings in 1997 when a small group of locals wondered whether authors may like to spend a winter's weekend in Byron Bay. They did, and fifty Australian writers and an audience of two hundred interested locals. The Festival has now grown from a single venue event to fill four huge marquees and venues around town and sells 45,000 individual tickets. Guests now number more than 150 and over the years the most significant and respected contemporary Australian writers have participated through readings, conversations, lectures, lunches, panels and launches.
