A Great Event for a Great Cause!! (23 May - 31 May)
Held at the Bangalow A & I Hall, this 8 day event full of Arts and Entertainment is suitable for anyone and everyone. Proceeds are directed to the Buttery, a theraputic community for those seeking recovery from addiction, so come along for some fun and support a worthwhile cause.

The Icon Australia All Girls Surf Showdown is the largest women’s surfboard riding competition in Australia and possibly the world. This comp is hosted and organised by the All Girls Surfriders Club Inc of Lennox Head and the event takes place on the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June each year.

The Event has 7 Devisions and is designed to contribute to the development of women’s surfing at all levels. This event showcases some of the best women surfers in the world, in our local region, and offerers an opportunity for all those talented youths to prove themselves in a wider arena.

Splendour in the Grass will return to warm up your winter to make it the 9th annual festival. Australia's much loved festival event will feature a real feast of musical treasures from around the globe. Talent includes Coldplay, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, Moby, Brian Wilson and many, many more.

Splendour in the Grass will take place at Belongil Fields on Sat July 25th and Sun 26th, 2009.

The two-day annual event accommodates 17,500 people who party for the weekend to a mix of rock, hip hop, electronic and alternative beats from both international and national artists, whilst also featuring local arts and crafts, creative performances and cuisine. From humble beginnings in 2001 this is now a leading experience for music lovers.

In past years Splendour in the Grass tickets have sold out in advance, often within hours of going on sale – all tickets to last year’s festival were snapped up in just 5 hours, while the preceding three years’ events sold out in a little over a day.

Accommodation for the Splendour in the Grass go-ers sell out a little slower than the tickets but sell quickly none-the-less. Byron Bay Accom has all accommodation types in all locations. From private houses in the Byron Bay hinterland to little cottages on the beach at Belongil, Motel rooms in Ballina and even apartments right in the Byron Bay town centre.

One of Australia’s premier literary events the Byron Bay Writers Festival 2009 will knock your rainbow socks off!!!

Three days, 100 featured writers and thinkers, 150 volunteers to keep it all running smoothly and some 5000 visitors – all the ingredients that make Byron Bay Writers Festival one of the hottest literary events in Australia. The festival includes live radio broadcasts, panel discussions, readings, book signings, conversations, theatre, literary luncheons and more, with activities to suit all age groups. Byron’s festival of words and ideas is not to be missed.

We can't show you the list of writers participating in the Byron Bay Writers Festival 2009 just yet. The entire program and all participants can be viewed on line Friday 5 June.The big reveal of the entire program and huge list of writers and thinkers will take place here 5 June. From this date you can purchase the full range of Day Passes, workshops, literary lunches and feature events. All a passionate reader and writer could desire.

Passes are all you need to gain access to the main marquee program between 7 and 9 August. Remember, Saturday 8 August offers the riotous kids marquee and you may also purchase Early Bird Passes for this. (Just quietly, we will start whispering some writers' names to you very soon.) 

The Bangalow Music Festival showcases a vibrant cross-section of musical styles in the beautiful setting of Bangalow and is a world-class event. The programs is a rich in collaboration between professional chamber ensembles, Australian composers, world-class soloists and emerging young artists. These amazing musicians are part of a magical weekend, full of warmth and a very personal touch. Over the years artists have included Ilya Knovalov (Concertmaster of the Israel Philharmonic), the Australian String Quartet, Tankstream Quartet, Tel-Aviv Trio, Marshall Maguire, Slava Grigoryan, and of course members of the Southern Cross Soloists. In fact the Legendary Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe attended the Festival in 2004, describing it as, “the most exciting festival, outside a capital city, that I have ever attended”. The award-winning Bangalow Music Festival has been the most spectacular development of the Southern Cross Soloists in recent years.

This three day festival is a community event where stories are shared which may question our understanding of a fathers’ role and celebrate his role in the family. The world’s first fatherhood festival was held in Bangalow, NSW on Fathers’ Day weekend, 2004 and was hosted by Andrew Denton.

The festival includes, professionals seminars plus talks, comedy, contemporary music events, health checks, family fitness plus free kids rides and much more. There are now, annual Festivals inspired by the Bangalow model in NSW and W.A. and other festivals are envisaged in every state of Australia, where fathers and families can gain insight, feel renewed, have fun and create stronger community links. Artists that have performed include, John Butler, Pete Murray, Jimmy Barnes, Lior, Archie Roach, Jimmy Little, Kev Carmody, Brian Cadd, Will Anderson and many more....

Schoolies Week is the period where Year 12 school leavers from all around Australia celebrate the end of their School years. This usually takes place between mid-November and mid-December when year 12 students Leaving Certificate exams are finally over .

Schoolies Week is often the first holiday these students go on without their families so this coming of age creates it's own special needs.

Byron Bay has always been a laid back destination for Schoolies and at this stage no spacific "Schooies" events have been planned!

With Events such as Wheel Changing Competitions,  Show n Shine, Tappet Cover Racing and a Trade Display.

This is a great family day out with full catering at the grounds.

All cars judged by ASMF judges.

Entrants set up at 6.30 - 8.30am (NSW time)

Admission:  $5.00 per adult, $1.00 per child or $12.00 per family
