Bangalow
Bangalow - A Boutique Village 10 minutes from Byron Bay...
Bangalow is a historical village around 10 minutes drive west of Byron with a population of approximately 1,000 people. The main street features historic buildings, cafe's and restaurants as well as a friendly pub with plenty of interesting antique, craft and specialty shops.
Bangalow has many events that draw many of the locals and visitors alike, such as the Bangalow Show in November, and the Bangalow Billy Cart Derby which is held in May. Both events are high in community spirit and are a great day out for the whole family to experience.
On the fourth Sunday of each month, Bangalow comes alive to the market in the showgrounds. Perhaps the mose popular market on the north coast, Bangalow is famous for its shady trees and grassy enclosure shocasing yet more of the region's art, craft and produce. There is also a shuttle bus that operates on market days to and from Byron Bay, a 20 minute drive away (by bus).
How to get there:
Take the Bangalow/Lismore exit from the Pacific Highway, about 12km south of the Byron Bay exit or 25km north of Ballina. From Byron Bay, take Bangalow Road out of town in a southerly direction. Take a right turn between the golf course and the rugby ground, follow the road up the hill and enter the village of Bangalow from the east after about 14km.
