Transport

Getting to Byron Bay
Byron Bay is easy to reach by plane, bus, car and train (with a coach connection). The Northern Rivers region of New South Wales is situated along the Pacific Highway south of the NSW/QLD border. Byron Bay is about 800km from Sydney and 170km from Brisbane by road.
Arriving by plane
You can fly into Ballina Airport which is 40km south of Byron Bay, Coolangatta Airport which is 80km to the north (just over the QLD border), or Lismore Airport which is 40km to the west of Byron Bay. The airports are serviced by Virgin Blue and Jetstar, with Rex also flying to Lismore and Ballina. All three airports have shuttles that can transfer you direct to your Byron Bay accommodation.
Arriving by car
You can drive down from Brisbane in a couple of hours, or it takes about 10 hours to drive from Sydney to Byron Bay.
Arriving by bus
Byron’s bus depot is in the centre of town and most of the larger coach companies have regular services to Byron Bay. www.byroneasybus.com.au
Arriving by train

Getting around in Byron Bay
Byron Bay township is small and quite flat and if you are intending on spending your holiday in the township area, you can easily get around on foot or by bike.
Bicycles
There are several cycle hire shops in Byron Bay township where you can hire bikes on an hourly, daily or weekly basis. There are cycle tracks through some areas of town, one leading south to Suffolk Park and another leading out to the Byron Arts and Industry Estate and the suburb of Sunrise Beach.
Car hire
You can hire a car at Ballina or Coolangatta airports or in Byron Bay itself, which can be a convenient way to explore the surrounding area and travel to and from the airport. There is also a limousine service in Byron Bay.
Buses
Byron Bay and its suburbs and surrounding villages are serviced by bus and coach transport through Blanch's Bus Company. Blanch’s provides specialised transport to major events and festivals and regular route services throughout the district. For more information: www.blanchs.com.au
